a prayer request from us...

Dear Family and Friends,

Mike and I just wanted to send out a letter/prayer request to let everyone know what is happening in our lives right now. By now I hope that everyone has heard the news that we are expecting our first child close to the end of the year. We are both currently working hard to save some money for all the expenses that will arise with this existing event. Mike is also working towards his BA in Christian Studies at Briercrest to become a youth pastor.

Mike working and going to school is more or less the prayer request part of this letter. Through school Mike was required to get a mentor in our area to work with so that he would be connected to a spiritual leader while he works toward becoming one. We both think that man he chose is great. Jeff is a man with a true passion for doing God’s work through God’s word. Mike’s first meeting with his mentor went really well but with one little twist that neither of us saw coming. Jeff suggested that Mike go back to school full time in the fall so he could complete his degree much faster. After the meeting, Mike caught me up on what happened. He and I decided that this was something that we should reflect and pray about. We have been doing both of these things and will continue over the next few months. We know that this change will affect a lot of aspects of our lives. First off, Mike would be done school much sooner and would be ready to get into ministry and his calling much faster. There is also the worry about where we would get the money to live and how we would stay afloat, especially with a baby on the way. It was suggested to us by Jeff that we could work through school like a ministry, raising the money as we go, and working as much as possible. There is also, always in the back of my mind at least, a chance that Mike’s neck that could get in the way at anytime.
Well, all of this is up to God in the end and we totally trust that He will take care of us. We just want to know that if we do this that we are going in the right direction and pace for what God has for our future.
Please pray for guidance for us as we try to discover which direction we should take. We know that God will reveal to us in His own time what He wants. However, sometimes it is most difficult to act when we don’t have a clear indication what to do. We do believe that Mike getting his degree and going into youth ministry is a calling from God, and that it is in God’s will that we get through this schooling. Right now we are trying to discern if it’s now that we should go. Pray for peace in our decision and for God’s providing hand in our lives, bringing people to help us in whatever means to accomplish this.
